The Role

Panther is seeking an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and experienced Legal Director to join our executive team. As Panther builds financial and employment infrastructure for companies to employ and pay their global teams, you will sit at the very center of our value proposition. Leveraging your domain expertise in employment law and international expansion, you will be responsible for creating an innovative legal and regulatory strategy, overseeing strategic foreign entity setup, and serving as an integral partner to cross-functional leaders in the company. Your impact will span across product, regulatory, commercial, geographic expansions, privacy, corporate, IP, employment, policy, and compliance.

In this role, you'll get to‍

  • Oversee and help develop our legal strategy for a wide variety of product, regulatory, and commercial opportunities.
  • Be the face of Panther for key external legal and regulatory partners (including customers, partners, insurance companies, and regulators) to advise on regulatory and privacy-related issues.
  • Help Panther establish itself as an Employer-of-Record across key geographies.
  • Advise our leadership, product, revenue, support, and other teams, and help us understand when to take risks, how to mitigate them, and when to avoid them;
  • Coordinates and researches international laws and regulations.
  • Establish a trusted group of legal partners across the world to advise Panther in setting up local entities and staying compliant and up-to-date with local laws while offering employer-of-record and contractor-management services.
  • Represents Panther in any disciplinary actions concerning its agents, companies, or other authorized persons.
  • Collaborates with staff and subject matter experts to draft legal opinions and provide directives on company actions.

About You

  • 8+ years of relevant legal and operational experience in a leadership capacity at a venture-backed startup.
  • A passionate individual who believes in Panther's mission: simplifying global employment.
  • A shipping-oriented mindset focused on achieving results quickly. Founder experience a big plus.
  • Proven experience building and leading teams in high-growth environments.
  • A strong track record of positive outcomes for those you have hired and managed in the past.
  • Experience with employment law and international expansion.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines, sometimes beyond normal working hours.
